Introduction to Research With Heather Snapp
My Palmetto Writers learned lots from the First Year Experience Outreach Library Heather Snapp about the resources available for first year students at FGCU.
Here are some resources:
1. Link to FGCU Library page
2. Link to the First Year Experience page which provides library resources for First Year Students
3. Link to the Fall 2013 Library Workshops
Professor Snapp provided us with a 2-page Library Services Handout which you can access below.
Also below is an example of the Research Citation Practice activity that the Palmetto Writers Bree Ann C. and Jessica B. worked on.

Day 2 Part 2 of our Research Practice week focused on a Google Challenge seeing how quickly groups could find the answers to 5 questions using Google Search Engine. The average time to find the answers to the questions was around 8 minutes.
Jeremy, Kelsey, and Tiana got 4/5 answers right on the Challenge. Kudos to them! See below.
The other activity we worked on was the use of the apostrophe. Students did an exercise after a mini student-led teaching lesson on the use of apostrophes for possession and for contractions. I like this 1 min. 48 sec.YouTube video below.
